We spent a lot of today exploring around 7th downtown. Here's
a nice shot of an old church with the tower behind it. We were headed to check out
the Devonian Gardens in the Toronto Dominion building. Before we did that we actually scouted about
for a place to put a geocache. We looked all around for caches downtown and there
were none, so we decided to fix that. More info here.
Here's the Devonian Gardens. They
had a lot of little turtles sunning themselves.
They also had some Native American art. I took
a picture of this mainly for the middle one here, which has a great name,
Pet Frog Blowing Bubbles.
For some reason they also had petrified dogs all over
the place. I felt sorry for them, but they WERE cute...
There will be a lot of shots of the gardens, but I DID actually
narrow them down. They were larger than we expected and there was a lot of pictureque-ness
about.
Robyn with a bunny-eared purse on her head...Don't ask.
Here's a smaller shot of a couple pictures I put together
in order to try to make it more panoramic and give you a better view of the
place. As usual, I did a sterling job, and as usual, if you click on it
you can see a better sized version of it.
A nice fountain in the place.
There were some really nice flowers there and although
the camera rarely captured the colors well, sometimes they turned out well
anyways...
Here's a shot we like to call Naked Lady Being Spit on by Frogs.
They also had huge freakin' fat ass koi that you
could feed even more to, despite the fact they desperately didn't need it.
I tried to get some perspective in the next few shots, but none of them
really do any justice to just how huge and fat these fish were. These
were like 7 foot tall Dom DeLuise fish.
I borrowed a buck off Kat so that I could overfeed the fat little
bastards, too, and Susan was nice enough to snap pictures.
"Hey! You could FEED me, you know!!"
Susan makes a friend with the petrified doggy.
Here's a quickie shot of a tree with one hell
of a funky-ass trunk. No idea what sort of tree it is.
As usual, this shot was a lot cooler when viewed by the normal
eye and not the camera eye, the sun was going down, and you could see a lot more
of the metal art stuff, and it was all really nice looking, but it's still
a cool shot.
Later Brian headed off and us three girls went over to Teh Cheesecake,
because we'd both heard so much about it and had to experience it for ourselves.
It was slightly pricey, but the calamari was good and the desserts were freakin'
HUUUUGE. I had more Alberta Beef there with a mexican salad.
We then picked up a couple of movies and headed home where we
watched Connie and Carla, which was a lot of fun, even if it was a bit formulaic.
I suggest it.
